Introduction to Flamenco - 1hr class 4-wk session

(For beginners. No experience necessary.)

In this class, students will learn the very basic technique and understanding of flamenco.
Students will be introduced to:

• correct posture

• basic body, arm & hands movement

• how to play “palmas” (hand clapping)

• what is “compás”?

• correct execution of the foot work and sound

• brief history, styles, letras, & palos

• flamenco keywords

• a few examples of flamenco performance (DVD)
