Frequently Asked Questions:
• What should I wear for my first class?
Comfortable clothes (leotard, t-shirt, etc.) and an ankle-length full skirt for women (wear sweat pants, leggings, etc. under it) / long pants for men Don't buy all the gear until you are sure to stay with flamenco!
• What about shoes for the first day?
For the first few classes, you can wear a pair of character shoes or regular heels with a 0.5 to 1.5 inch sturdy heels (not too thin nor super high heel). No rubber soles or open-toe heels. For men, wear comfortable and sturdy dress shoes (preferebly with a little bit of heel). No tap shoes, please.
• What gear should I get once I decide to stay?
First, get flamenco shoes so they will protect your feet well. They are generally expensive and come in different grades (students, semi-professionals, professionals, etc.) in some cases/brands. After that, get lots of music CDs (good solid traditional flamenco NOT fusion) to enjoy or the Solo Compás series to familiarize yourself to compás. Skirts, shirt, dressses, earrings, hair stuff, etc. can wait...
